We just put our 11 year old baby to sleep yesterday, a Rottie named Marley! I MISS HIM SO MUCH and am so lonely without him! Thank you for your wonderful story! It helped me realize that the hole in our hearts really never goes away...it just gets a little smaller as time goes by!

Shawna - you and this letter will forever have a place in my heart. I had the same experience of loving and being loved by a Rotti "Jake"

I am so sorry for your loss and I feel your pain.We had to put our Rottweiler "Max" to sleep on Fri, 9/14/07.He has been gone 3 days and the tears will not stop. Thank you for sharing your story of your beloved furry child. Our Max was healthy most of his 12 years and then started having problems with his back legs and not being able to walk as before. We tried everything and last week he became progessively worse. Like your boy, ours did not want to leave us and was 'hanging' on as best as he could, never complaining much-but we knew that he had to have been in pain.He could no longer enjoy the simple everyday things in life..and like you did with your boy, I would lay on the floor with mine. I am having a very difficult time with my decision of putting him to sleep. My Vet also came to the house and Max was surrounded by his Mommy, Daddy and human big brother. The Vet was his friend too.We had him cremated & he is back in his home, laying in his bed.I hope he is not lonely.

Maverick will always hold a special place in my heart! Without Maverick and Shawna, my life would have been very different and I thank both of them for the love they showed me. I have many many memories of Maverick. My favorite memory was one night all of us were out for a walk when Bruiser, my little boy, and I walked up behind Maverick and he jumped, all of us realizing he was scared of the dark! Maverick also had a "thing" for playing cards ... don't even think about shuffling around him! hahaha We miss you and you will always be in our hearts!

What a wonderful tribute to such an angel on earth. We will meet again as Heaven wouldn't be Heaven without our precious babies to meet us someday. Please let me hear from you when you can.

Maverick was a very special boy. We understand your pain. The family you have they have gone don't replace them, but help us heal. Memories are very special and you will always have them. God Bless Robert and Tonya

Just reading your tribute. A good friend of mine also lost a Boxer to cancer just a few days ago, so I'm sending her this link. Love to you and all your animal family! (Your human family too, tell them all hi for me)
