Memories of Ginger Keister
| This is the very last photo I took of Ginger, about a week before she died. She was hanging out with Kobe, our Leopard Tortoise, on the right. She was such a sweetheart! She loved her cats and her tortoise. And she loved us and we loved her so very much! When we lived in a rural area, several years ago, we had a golf cart. Ginger claimed that as HER car. When we came home from work, she would race out the door, jump on the golf cart and bark until one of us would go out and take her for a ride. She so loved riding on her golf cart, ears flapping and all! She had her 17th birthday on Nov. 18, 2005 and she died on Feb. 8, 2006, so she was a "little old lady". She was an elderly Katrina evacuee and I hauled her, 2 cats, and 2 tortoises, all over the country for a few weeks. We finally made it back home, but the trip was rough on her. Toward the end, she had dementia and was incontinent. I joked about running a dachshund hospice, but I'd do it all again without hesitation, because she was my baby! Ginger was just the best dog we could have ever asked for! I suspect she's riding on a Golden Golf Cart over the Rainbow Bridge! |
