Memories of Katie
|
Katie was our very first Newfie that we had so this is dedicated just for her. We lost our beloved Katie on Thanksgiving Day. She passed away peacefully in her sleep. We miss her so much. Katie became a part of our family in March of 1994 a a big black butterball Newfie puppy. She was such a good puppy and learned everything very fast. When she arrived at our house she had a little hedgehog toy with her. That was her favorite toy for many years until she finally tore it apart. I still have that special toy of hers. Before we knew it, she was out of the puppy stage and two years had already passed. She became a mother in the year of l996 with a litter of 5 beautiful puppies. 3 girls and 2 boys. We couldn't bear to part with any of them so they also became a part of our Newfie family. Now we had Katie plus her "kids" Jack, Roco, Heidi, Annie and Kari. We only bred her one more time and of course had to keep one of those puppies too. So Tippy was added to our family. Katie loved to be outside when it was cool and we would find her sitting in our pond with just her head showing. When we would call her, she would stay in the pond and just "woof" as if to say "her I am!". She was so funny. She brought so many smiles and laughs to us. Katie never won any shows or no competitions but she was the biggest champion to us. Everyone that meant Katie loved her and she returned the love back to them. She use to sit in front of me and put her head on my shoulder and then give me a big hug. She always remained a puppy in her mind and loved to try and sit on our lap. Her age gradually started catching up to her and started to slow down. She would lay and watch the others play but would much rather just lay in the shade and take a nap. Katie gave us so many years of joy and love it is very hard not having her here with us now. I can still hear her woofing to go outside. I know she has crossed the Rainbow Bridge and will be sitting there waiting for us someday. Katie will always be the special Newfie that we had and will remain in our hearts forever. We will love her forever! I miss you Katie. It is so hard to beleive that she has been gone for over a year now. I still miss her so very, very much. We have some of her offsprings still here with us and I can see so much of Katie in them. They make me sad and happy at the same time. No matter how many Newfies we have, Katie is the most special one we will ever have had. |
