Memories of Luckie

Luckie was a wild bunny who was hand raised from the time she was about 2 weeks old. She loved being around the other bunnies, following them around trying to be near them. She took care of her stuffed animal "babies", hiding them in the hay, placing them on the food bowl when she ate. The evenings were her time to run around the rabbits' room, and she knew it. She would pull on the bars of her cage with her teeth, eager to hop out and visit her friend Mikey. We miss you sweetie! If it be I grow frail and weak, And pain should wake me from my sleep, Then you must do what must be done, For this last battle can't be won. You will be sad, I'll understand, Don't let your grief then stay your hand, For this day more than all the rest, Your love and friendship stand the test. We've had so many happy years, What is to come will hold no fears, You'll not want me to suffer, so, When the time comes, please let me go. I know in time, you too will see, It is a kindness you do me, Although my tail its last has waved, From pain and suffering, I've been saved.
