Madie's Rainbow Residency

Memories of Madie

On Labor Day of 2005, my best friend stopped at a grocery store she never goes to. She heard a kitty crying and found a black fuzz ball inside a truck. All the windows were up and it was a 100 degree day. She went inside and made the people page the owner. The owner came out and argued with her and eventually just shoved the kitty at my friend and drove away. So, that's how Madie came to live with me. My friend had taken her to the vet and made sure she was ok. She was very energetic. So playful and such an explorer. She was smart too. Always finding a way to get what she wanted. She loved to walk on the treadmill. She would get on and just stand there until someone turned it on for her. We've moved it to the patio now, because Madie was the only one who ever used it. On Nov. 8, 2006, I noticed that she was breathing hard and was very quiet and subdued. She liked to sleep on the toilet seat covers and on bathroom towels and she did that a lot that day. So, I made an appointment with the vet thinking that she just needed some meds. He said she had FeLV and that her chest was filling with fluid. He could drain it, but it would just come back. So, because we didn't want her to suffer long term, we had her put to sleep. She crossed over on November 10th 2006. I still miss her like crazy. She was a whirlwind around my house and her absensce is like deafening silence. I'll miss her always.
