Welcome to Mittens's Rainbow Residency

Mittens's Rainbow Residency

Memories of Mittens

Mittens is a beautiful, long haired muted tortie who spent many happy years with her mommy, Dottie, in Southern California. When Dottie passed away in 2003, Jeri brought Mittens to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. We were good friends with Jeri and Dottie, and so we visited Mittens often. She just didn't find a nitch there; so we adopted her in October 2003, and she found her purrfect home at Furry Friends Haven just 1/2 mile from us, with her loving mom Jayne. FFH is a haven for older and special needs kitties and dogs, and Mittens spent five happy years there. She loved the outdoor screened enclosures and spent many hours watching the birds, the squirrels and enjoying the fresh air of Utah and all the beautiful scenery. She had found her place at last, and Jayne gave her so much love and caring.

On 10/14/08, it became obvious that it was time for Mittens to go home, across Rainbows Bridge, to be with her mommy, Dottie again. Jayne and we were with her, holding her, telling her how much she was loved, and she quietly, gently and sweetly slipped away from us. We know that Dottie was waiting at the Bridge, scooped her up in her arms, and they are together in a place of incredible beauty. Now Mittens has a meadow to play in, is her young beautiful self, has butterflies to chase, sunlight to bask in, trees to climb to watch the birds, blue sky and gentle breezes to ruffle her fur. Most of all, she has her mommy's lap to curl up in and take a snooze and angels to watch over them. May God's arms encircle them and all the furbabies. We will all be together again one day in God's time.

In the meantime, Mittens is our angel, watching over us with purrs of love.

12/3/08 - Merry Christmas, little one. We're sure that you're loving every minute there with your mommy, Dottie. We think of you so often and love you so much. Enjoy the warmth of the fire in the fireplace and the golden Christmas trees, as you watch the snow gently falling outside the windows of your warm and love filled home. We'll see you when we get there. Our love is with you always. Your loving aunties, Clare, Martha and Jeri

12/11/08 - Precious Mittens, Nova has crossed Rainbows Bridge to be with you and all the others from Furry Friends Haven who have crossed before her. Please take her under your paw and show her all the beauty that is in that wonderful place. She crossed so suddenly so we know that God has a very special plan for her and needed her there. We ask that you, Nova and all the other dear furbabies of Jayne's go to the Bridge and send your love down into her grieving heart. We are doing what we can here to ease her pain and give her our love and support. Purr your love deep into her broken heart. We'll all be together again one day. In the meantime be Mom Jayne's special angels, watching over and for her. Your aunties, Martha and Clare

12/31/08 - As this year slips into the past, we want you to know that we love you and miss you. May you and your mommy, Dottie, have a grand and glorious 2009 across the Bridge, enjoying one another and watching over us who will join you one day. Love you, Mittens - Your aunties, Martha, Clare and Jeri
