Welcome to Molly's Rainbow Residency

Molly's Rainbow Residency

Memories of Molly

We first met Molly at the U of Penn in Philadelphia where she became the kidney donor for our little missy Cleo back in 1998. Her sister, Penny, was the potential donor, but she couldn't donate. The U of Penn's policy is that if one of their cats saves another cat through an organ donation, the recipient's family gives him/her a home for life. We didn't have the heart to separate Molly and Penny, so we adopted both of them. We drove up to Philadelphia with one cat; came back with three -- each in her own carrier while driving in a little 3-door Rav-4 traveling 12 hours one-way.

Molly was so skiddish. After getting her home, it took her a week just to come out of the bathroom. Then she made her "home" under a chair for the next two weeks. Little by little she developed a trusting soul and incorporated us into her life. She and Penny were sisters, but they were as different as night and day. When Penny passed away in 2006, Molly "came out" of her shell. She would greet us at the door when we arrived home, greet us in the kitchen when we got up in the morning, listen to us when we needed to talk (she was an excellent listener) and always, always showed us love by snuggling down with us on the couch, and letting us rub her tummy.

The day she had her stroke was a very sad day, and my husband and I will always miss that little girl along with her unconditional love. Our little Molly Munchkin was very precious to us, and we miss her terribly. Until we see you (and your sister, Penny) again, my dear little one...we love you!
