Memories of Murray
My dearest Murray was the best toy poodle a family could every have. He was loved by all because of his loving demeanor. He had so much energy in his younger years and when you called his name or asked him if he wanted a treat....his ears would perk up so cute! He was such a cuddly dog and followed me everywhere. We were the best of buddies. He used to ride in the car with me everywhere until his heart started to have problems last July 2009. He lasted another year with all his breathing problems. He stayed around long enough to see his Rachel in her musical and go to the prom and then graduate High School. He even stuck around long enough for her graduation party and partied it up with all her friends. He loved to hear his Laura sing with her beautiful voice. That is why we put the "Memories" song from the musical "Cats" on here because Laura had the lead in that musical. How fitting that song is for Murray. Murray helped me thru my husband having brain surgery this past February 2010. He was my buddy while I was alone at night and my husband was in the hospital recovering. Murray loved us all....and was so darn adorable....I just hope he can forgive me for putting him to sleep. I hope that is what he wanted me to do. He was 13 1/2 years old. I wish he lived longer....but he was having such a hard time breathing and he no longer could do the steps in our house. My heart just aches for the loss of him. He brought me such happiness. I know my heart will go on...and his heart is now beating the way it should.

I found this poem that comforted me some this morning....I felt like he was telling me I made the right decision.

The Last Battle
If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close -- we two -- these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

I love you little Murray.....until we meet again.
