Memories of Nicco

Nicco, our 4 year old Boxer gave my family and I the best 4 years a family can ask for. He was the most amazing, loveable, ambitious, and curious dog in the world. He understood everything and anything. He would wait and sit outside on our porch late at night for our dad to get home. He would be there to greet my dad with the biggest kiss and open arms. We took Nicco everywhere with us. Thursday night dinners at our grandmothers, trips to Long Island to stay at our cousins house with their boxer, walks on the beach, dog parks with my dad, he went everywhere! He was our first dog and we never knew what to expect when we found out 6 months ago that he had stage four Lymphoma Cancer. We did everything we could. We tried Chemotherapy for a few months and steriods but within this last month his body rejected the Chemotherapy. Easter Sunday, Nicco turned for the worst and was not himself. He stopped eating, playing, walking, and even stopped answering to us. We had to make the most devastating and difficult decision a family can possibly make for their YOUNG little boy. We could not let him suffer and knew that on that Easter day, he gave us all the signs to let us know that it was his time. We stayed up all night with him and made him as comfortable as possible and we made it through our last night with him until he was put into the arms of God the next morning. I had the joy of having him in my arms as he layed to rest. He is now our angel and his memories will never die. Our house is bare without him and so is our hearts but we will fill the emptiness inside with his memories and love that we were able to share with him. ...Nicco, mommy will always love you and noone will ever replace you. I promise you. You were and always will be, like I always said "my handsome boy". May you rest peacefully my angel and know that we did this for your benefit. Love you baby boy...
