Memories of Rina

Rina was the friendliest cat ever. She adored people, especially my husband. Every night she would sleep curled up right next to his pillow and purr as loudly as a motorboat. We got our cats, Rina and her brother Smokey, when our youngest daughter, Nica, was just 3 yrs old. Nica would walk around the house carrying her special bear under one arm and Rina under the other, and Rina loved being with her. Never did she try to get away or lash out. She was so tolerant. One time we had a parent meeting at our house and about 15 people were here. We were sitting in a circle in our living room and Rina came in, walked over each person's lap and made friends all around the room. People said she was "like a dog in a cat suit." Another time the telephone repair man was here and he was standing in the kitchen explaining what he had done. Rina came in, jumped from the floor to his shoulder, and perched there like a bird. He was shocked at first, but then he laughed and petted her.
