Memories of Rose

Dear Rose, Ten years - it has been ten years since we last held you in our arms. The years have not faded our love for you. We smile as we remember you: The way you would watch the door, waiting for Dad's homecoming. The way you would bark and jump with gleeful joy when we came in - even if we had only been outside a few moments. We laugh when we see a squirrel skittering across the yard and remember how the squirrels would make you nuts - they would run along the top of the fence chattering at you while you growled and yipped and charged the fence trying to get at them. Remember when Adam & his friend tied a toy frog on your head? You never forgot they did that to you. You shredded most of your toys quick as a wink. You preferred them without stuffing, squeakers or eyes. In fact the eyes were always your first target. But one toy, a monkey, you didn't destroy. That is kept in my dresser. When I open the drawer and see that monkey peeking back at me, it brings back a memory of you playing with the monkey. And I remember looking for you and finding you curled up in the closet on a dress that was headed for the dry cleaners. Or curled up amongst our pillows, like a princess. Above my desk is a picture I took of yuo peeking down the stairs at me. You would run ahead - gosh you were quick! and then you would turn around to make sure I was not too far behind. Please keep peeking over the rainbow, checking on us. We'll be along and we so look forward to hearing your bark, having you jump into our arm. Love, Mommy & Daddy Please also visit Gladys.
