My Best Friend

I felt safe at night all of the time because I had my best friend right beside me. Lucy, my dog. She was the best thing that ever happend to me. If I got hurt she would come and comfort me. If I cried, she would be there, sitting beside me, licking my face as if to say "It's okay, i'm here". Everynight she would come jump on my bed and stay with me all night. I had Lucy since I was about 3 years old. I remember the first day of my dad bringing her home. It was a dream come true. I had my very own puppy. She was a cocker spanial terrior with very dark black fur. I loved her so much. She never left my side no matter what. Then, when she was 13 years old, she got very sick. It was horrible to watch her go through that pain. After about 3 weeks of medications and shots. We had to let go. We did what was best, but the hardest thing to do. After that we got her creamated, and burried her ashes next to her favorite tree in the backyard. I'm lost without my best friend. It's been tough on me lately. But I will always remember her as the happiest dog ever. It was an honor to have loved her as much as she loved us. Those 11 years with her were the best, and I will never forget it. Lucy, my best friend is gone, but she will always be in my heart.
