How Tender You Are
by Debra Airhart
What a treasure you are, you were then and you are now. Your eyes lost their sparkle but now sparkle they do My baby, my love, what a treasure you are You always were waiting for me to call you From where ever you were be it near or afar You'd come running and smiling, what a treasure you are I can still see your smile and feel your soft fur My baby, my love, what a treasure you are Time took its toll on your body and eyes You were so strong to keep tears from my eyes My baby, my love, what a treasure you are You loved me and left me I'll love you forever and think of you too I'll be with you when my work here is through My baby, my love, what a treasure you are I know you are happy, I know you are free, While we are apart that's enough for me You run and you play and you smile all the time I know in my heart, with God's help I'll be fine Listen for me to whisper and call you by name You are in my heart and I'll never be the same Thank you for all the love you gave me Daily I thank God that from pain you are free The joy, the splendor you brought to my life Can never be measured, no reason to try My baby, my love, what a treasure you are I will never be able to tell you good bye Why would I want to, I won't even try I'll be with you soon, and together we'll stay Together we'll snuggle and forever we'll play.
