Trixie-Almost;go to Rainbow Bridge shouting, peace.
by Paul & Beverly Burns
On November 8, 2004 my last day on earth my Mommy and Daddy and my K9 family and "white sox" (the cat we don't have-that's a joke)loved me the way that is hardest to do sometimes. I was off the charts in age and that's o.k. You see if Mommy and Daddy went strictly by the charts none of the brothers and sisters I have waiting at Rainbow Bridge would have had a chance, nor would the ones that will someday come along behind me. Mommy had to take me by herself, Daddy had to work (they don't let people off work for stuff like that), and Mike is working out of State right now. They all talked and knew that Mom would be taking me to our vet and I would be headed for Rainbow Bridge. It wasn't easy, but they kept a hard promise. Mom saw the look of "please don't let me suffer, don't hold on too long when I need to go". She watched us struggle too long in hope and dismay as our precious Callie Girl fought a battle she would not be able to beat. Death is an end of one form of life and the begining of another form, especially when there is God and Rainbow Bridge and Heaven and people who love us. People who don't take it for granted that the "runt" doesn't have a chance, the"tossed aways" don't have a chance, the ones that some people "aren't too sure about" don't have a chance; they do and did thrive ,with my family anyhow. On the day I went to Rainbow Bridge I just had to have a few special things, like a pillow case I conned Mike out of and a blankie of fleece and my American flag-just had to bring that with me, cause I know a lot of the gang waiting will be happy to see it. I had a nice day and a cheese sandwich with my brothers (K9s) and little tussle and play in the yard, of course some T.V. and then it was my appointment time. I had my dr. and my vet tech and my Mom and my special stuff. I gave Mom a slurp as I was falling into a peaceful sleep, curled up my flag and as they prayed the Lords Prayer I began to feel warm and peaceful, I know my Mom heard Daddy Grandpa (that's what Mike calls him) laugh, she said to the tech she did. She was right. When Daddy Grandpa was passing away to Heaven he kept saying to Mom (I've heard her tell his story, like he asked her to) tell them there's plenty of cool clear clean water, flowers all over, a big table with food for plenty and room enough for everybody. She said he said that over and over---you can only imagine for now, when your time comes whatever sort of creature you are God has a place of peace for you. You see this guy named Jesus was a carpenter on earth, but He became so much more and what He did with His love is awesome or pawsome whichever you prefer! I slurped Moms last tears away, laid down my tired head and went to Rainbow Bridge (Heaven for us) shouting, for joy and love, and now my K9 brothers will carry on. They miss me I heard them as we pulled out the drive. Someday they will know it's o.k. and it's o.k. to hurt and it's o.k. to cry and it's o.k. to go on 'till your time is at hand. So if ya'll don't care I'm going to go roll in some flowers and play in the water and eat and be happy, OH YEAH my family said if a relative came by and we wanted to cross on with them they would just see us when we all get to Heaven. Guess who I see? Love to my family and thanks for the best home a "runt" could have. In memory of and for ; Trixie- Almost (Asbury Burns )Peace be with us all.
