COBBER - 1982-1996
by Helen Callahan
I go for the paper - He is not by by my side. I pick up the mail-He is not by my side. I prepare my lunch and he is not there for his share. I get in the car to make my rounds- his seat is empty as am I. Darkness falls - Bedtime is here - He is gone. I close my eyes -- and he is by by side.
