Sophie: My little angel
by Jan Christiansen
Sophie was a Dashusand. I got her in August of 2003. I was a single mom with two small boys. We all picked her out that special day. Sophie was the sweetest little dog in the world. She loved to play with the boys and have her belly rubbed. I met my husband in October of the same year and we later got married in June. We moved to the country and Sophie just loved it. She was so happy to be out of a small back yard. She loved to chase the birds and the cows and to fish. She always let us know when someone drove up to the house. She was our friend and watch dog. We got her a companion in June of 2004, Snoopy the Beagle. They loved each other and were such great friends. The day Sophie died was February 22, 2005. My husband and step-son were at the tank fishing. The dogs were with them. My husband heard Sophie in trouble a short distance in the woods. He knew something was wrong. I drove up from work and they came running up to me. Sophie had been attached by something. The look of her injuries make us believe it was a bobcat. When my husband heard the noises coming from the woods, he started the go-cart and we think that is what scared the predator off. Sophie was really torn up. She died about 40 minutes later at home. My two sons where so upset. I was too. It was such a tragic experience. I loved her with all my heart and she brought such great love and happiness to us all. She was only a small dog, but she had the heart and the bravery of a larger dog. She was one of a kind-truly a blessing. Snoopy has searched for her and howled for Sophie to come home. Animals do have feelings and I know Snoopy misses her friend. I am thankful for this website because it has brought me comfort. It also helps to write about her and the love she brought into ours lives. I will never forget her, not any detail of her personality. She always greeted me and jumped in my lap. She was a true, true friend. We love you Sophie!!!
