My sweet , dear friend Ayla left on Saturday to be with the angels. I will miss that dog too much, for too many reasons. She will live in my heart forever. She walked with me when no one else wanted to, she wiped my tears, when no one else was allowed to see them. She woke me up, when I wanted to stay in bed, but stayed right beside me when I was sick or sad. She barked at strangers , but then made them her friends. She swam after loons in Canada because she owned that lake. She loved that place up there in the wilds. She got to go one more time last summer. Somehow we knew it was her last. I wonder if she did.
I hope God makes room for dogs in heaven. Their spirits are far better than most of ours will ever be.
So if you have an animal, give it a hug today. You don't have much time, in dog or cat years anyway. That animal made its way to your home , not by accident, but by design. It loves you unconditionally , but expects the same in return.
Ayla really loved us. I know she's waiting for us wherever she is .I just wonder when I'll stop checking to see if she's following me up the stairs to bed.
