Good Bye furry child:
by Sue Lang
From the second I first saw you I knew it meant to be, you'd be coming home and forever living with my family and me. On that day, I rescued you from the pound, and you have since repaid me by a leap and a bound. You mean more to me than just a pet, and to this day I have no regret. I thought of you as my child just the same, and this is why I gave you a human name. You have stood beside me thru good and bad, you are the very best friend that I've ever had. I love you more than you'll ever know, and this is the hardest decission...to let you go. I know that you are aging and in so much pain, and to keep you alive for me, is just plain insane. As I hold you head and kiss you goodbye, I have to wipe the tears away from my eye. Seeing you go is breaking my heart, but don't look at this as an ending, it is your start. Please go quietly and do not wait, for I will see you again, at that pearly gate.
