Agony
by Sharon Martin
What can I say about my sweet baby Porky, my black & white cat, who was only 11 years old. In april 2005 I took my baby to the vet and they discovered a lump on his neck, about 10 days later I was given the news that he had Lymphosarcoma,(cancer). I was at work when I recieved the news & had to leave. I decided to start chemo treatments which at first worked great clearing up the lumps, but his nose was always clogged & running which made him not eat. In between chemo treatments when he wouldn't eat we would syringe feed him but he fought us but we kept trying. After about six weeks the Dr asked to see Porky to see if his nose cleared up, it didnt and his weight was down to 8 pounds, he was 14 pounds before he got sick. The Vet seem to think the cancer spread in to his nasal cavity & suggested an mri & radiation but there was little hope this would help, plus it was very expensive, so we had to decide to put my baby to sleep on June 7th 2005. I am devastated but I know it was the right thing to do, I know especially the last week my baby was suffering and not himself. I will always remember how sweet porky was, and loving, and how he was always by my side. I wanted to share my story and share my "agony" of making this decision and sharing how sweet my baby was, and say porky will always be in my heart and I will never stop missing him.
