Lord God, we praise you for all creation and especially give you thanks for your marvelous creature Abigail. We thank you for entrusting her to us for these 14 years, and we thank you for the love, laughter, joy, and comfort she brought to our lives. We are grateful to you for Casey and Libby; by their presence we will be comforted and in their love we will be restore4d to the fullness of joy. We pray that we may all become better stewards of your creation. Help us to have deeper reverence for the earth and to hold sacred all creatures. We come before you this day in sure and certain knowledge that you will receive Abigail unto yourself and restore her to your eternal kingdom where there is no pain or suffering. Amen (As we scattered the ashes we said the following) Be in the wind, the breath of God that breathes in us. Be in the sun, the brightness of the Everlasting Father that shines on us and warms us. Be in the stars and moon, the light that shines in our darkness. Be in the rain that refreshes us, and in our tears that cleanse us. Be in the earth that nourishes and sustains us. Be forever in our hearts and in our memory.
