My Deedle Dumpling
by Sherri Miller
Dear Didi: As we pulled up to the vet on that Sunday - the radio was on. It was Diana Ross singing "Someday We'll Be Together". You and I knew on Saturday night that you would not be coming home with me. Daddy knew also - even though he kept on trying to talk himself into "it's just a tummy ache". I am so glad we had Saturday night together. I am so glad that I had the courage to put you down. I know how hard it was for you to not be able to get up and bark at everybody who passed by. I'm glad I stayed with you. I think it made it easier for you to let go. I know that your predecessors Peace and Trouble met you by the entrance to the Rainbow Meadow. I know that you're running and jumping and playing together. I know that you miss Precious. I know that Precious misses you. I know that you'll be waiting for her at the entrance like Peace and Trouble waited for you. And I know that you will all wait for me and daddy before crossing the Rainbow Bridge. Until we meet again my love. Mommy
