On January 20, 1997,
A cute, shy little puppy was sent from Heaven.
We brought her home when she was a few months old,
We got her for free, she wasn't sold.
The first night she was with us, she cried all night,
And would suddenly stop when someone turned on the light.
She then knew that we were near,
And that then she had nothing to fear.
Star turned out to be not so shy,
And a few weeks later, we would learn that she could fly.
She chased us around the table and down the hall,
And loved to play hockey with a ball.
We then soon learned that she was very smart,
She could do so many tricks that would get to your heart.
She barked at the auger or at anything with wheels,
She definately got your attention when it was time for her meals.
Star played soccer, school, hoola-hoops and hide and seek.
She was always willing to give you a kiss on the cheek.
Yesterday she went back to Heaven,
I don't understand why, she was only seven.
Sooner or later our hearts will begin to mend,
Star was not just a wonderful pet, but a best friend.
