Snooty
by Julie Norvell
SNOOTY Snooty was a special dog, she was a fifteen year old Golder Retriever when we had to have her put to sleep due to cancerous tumors in her heart and lungs. Snooty loved to help me with my gardening, I would plant tulip and daffodil bulbs and then she would rearrange them to her liking! Snooty went to the Little League ballpark and to the highschool band field on a regular basis, all the kids loved her! She had alot of personality and beautiful bloomers. She also loved to rummage through the neighbors belongings, she especially loved bringing home strange shoes, once she brought home a whole turkey carcus, and she was not happy when I took it away from her. When our daughter was young she played with my pretty ponies, Snooty would sneak into her bedroom at night and come out sneaking down the hall with a pony in her mouth! She went for a morning walk every day, as she got older the walks got longer because she walked so slowly as a result of arthritis. She was bewildered by turtles, she thought they were rocks that moved, when they moved too much she would pick them up with her teeth and promtly drop them into her large outside water container! She loved to swim in the small lake my husband fished in, once she and my husband and son floated the buffalo river in a canoe. She was terrified of thunderstorms, especially in her old age, she would climb into our hall bathroom bathtub, and we would have to help her out when the storm was over. She had four litters of puppies and they were all so adorable! She was a very good mother. Before she died her muzzle had turned completely gray and she slept most of the time, therefore we lovigly referred to her as the "throw rug"! It was one of the saddest days of our lives when we had to hace her out to sleep. She went very peacefully with my husband and I hoding her head and her front paws. She is burried in our backyard and her spirit is still with us. We were blessed to have this special dog in our lives, she brought us much love and joy and we will always miss her.
