My Friend, My Dog
by Alaina Samuel
For My Friend, My Dog I never thought it would hurt so badly I never thought Id feel so sad You were every dog, Id ever wanted You were the only dog Id ever had Your eyes held so much love I know God sent you from up above To watch, to love, to protect Your friendship I will always respect My home witch once felt so comforting Now feels so empty I miss you so badly and feel so guilty If onlys and should ofs could turn back time I wouldnt be crying and byding my time Its the little things that get me down I expected to see you today, scratching at the door I expected to see you just once more To see you waiting for me when I got out of the shower To see you run up every time I got ice from the ice maker I expected to see you play with your yellow ball that rattles around But, without you it makes no sound So I picked up your toys and put them away Your bed had to be washed Your food thrown away Delilah your friend was looking for you I told her youre gone I didnt know what else to do We will always remember you chasing the birds Or barking at the deer through the window near by Or licking off the grasses dew And carrying around your daddys shoe I pray for strength and for understanding I pray we made the right choice, for you our friend without a voice I pray for your pain and for your suffering That it all got taken away this October morning I hope you know how much your loved and how deeply you are mourned God bless those who feel this way God bless pets who go away Samson Ill miss you the rest of my life Thank you for being my best friend, my good dog, my life Always-your mom Proverbs 12:10 "A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal."
