Guardian Angel
by Rochelle Sheldon
I guess I would have to say that my story starts when my mom and dad got Baby two years before I was born. She was previously beaten by her old owners, but that didn't change how beautiful she was inside and out.Altough she was a young dog she didn't play much so I guess we didn't really visit her as often as we used to or we should of.Even though I was still a toddler I would go out and sit with her under the shade of the old Popler tree. I remember that I would always watch her before dinner time because I was so fascinated with how beatiful she was. Time came to move to a different house up on the Redlands. Altough I was sad to go I knew that it would be for the best. Years past and we both grew older and wiser. She escaped more and I neglected her more, but at around the age of eleven Baby fell ill with cancer. My sister and my mom took her all the way down to Fort Collins to get her treated. After the surgery, we had to rub her stomach with otment to prevent infection and keep the flys away(oh boy). About two months later she developed magits(thats because of the flys) which made the whole mess worse and harder to cure, but two years later and a lot of hard work the magits started to lessen and the cancer was gone. My whole family rejoiced at the sound of this and celebrated for hours on end(not really but i think you get the point).Christmas approched and happiness was in the air. Lights were strung, trees decorated and presents bought.Christmas was here and I was so excited(I was eleven). We left to go to my grandma's and partied till late into the night, but when we came home my sister went out to feed her and was gone. She had strangled herself until she fell limp. After hearing the news I went into my room and cried myself to asleep asking God why he had given me such a bad Christmas present. It took me weeks to figure out that it was the best Christmas present I could ask for, God had given me an angel to watch over me all my life, and it was time for her to return home to God.She still lives on in my heart and always will. My beatiful guardian angel.
