Silver Smokey Jo-Mi first puppy
by Shanna Simpkins
I remember when my parents took me to get you. I was so happy! I thought,"Finally, a dog of my own!" When we got there, we went up to the kennels, as soon as you saw me, you started going crazy! You and your brother were 10 weeks old. There were youger puppies there too. I went into your cage, you were all over me!Jumping, licking, nipping, pulling my hair, it was like you were saying,"I'm yours already! Take me home with you!" Your mom's owner tried to get me to buy the smaller ones, but i wanted you. So we loaded you up, and took you home. You got carsick, but it was OK. I was too happy to think! Later in life, you were about a month old, we went on vacation, my mom and dad's best friend was watching you, see they had a weimaraner too, Zoey, I think, they called and said you were sick. They saved you life, they fed you with a turkey strainer I think, when you wouldn't eat or drink, they took you to the vet. The vet found nothing wrong, nobody did. We came back and you got better. Then, a couple months later, the same thing happened. We took you to Iowa State for them to do tests and find out what was wrong. They did sergery and found a bunch of infection, or pus, in your stomach. They took it out and stitched it up, you were fine. Then, again, tragity struck. June 16th,2004, you got sick again, my little Smokey Jo, almost a month before your first birthday. Since you were my puppy, it was my choice, let you suffer, or put you down. I chose to put you down. Now that i recall it, that will probably be the saddest thing i will ever have to do. Now, on June 11th, 2005, i can finally remember all the good times we had. Sleeping with me on my bed, with your head on a pillow the exact same as me, finally teaching you how to play fetch, and just plain having you with me, you were my only true friend, I will always love you, my Silver Smokey Jo.
