Angel the pug was about 18 years old. She rescued me when I needed a friend. She trained me very well to carry her around campus when she felt tired. I coud never refuse. I truly bonded with her and I learned so much about nature with her, not only because I had to pick up after her. She was my first fury pet I did not know how pleasurable a dog's company could be. She stayed with me for eight wonderful years. We went to work at a liberal arts small college for six years. She assisted me during office hours, everyone had to stop to pet her. In the classroom she had to sit facing the students, next to the blackboard, or under my desk. She provided the comic relief for the students making loud noises when breathing, belching or snoring aloud in the middle of midterms. Angel was so well behaved that she attended faculty meetings, research presentations, plays, performances, college council, events and even banquets! Everyone greeted her as we strolled through campus and most people knew her better than me. Students who did not know me, would ask if I was the one with Angel. I hope to leave a plaque at the college in her memory, to remember the pug who went to college. She will be sorely missed by many.
