To Sundance (In Memory)
by Bonnie T. Boudreaux
To Sundance (In Memory) No matter where I would go and try to hide; You would be under my feet and by my side. I could go to any room in the house; But you'd find and catch me as a cat would a mouse. I taught you to sit, speak, shake and sneeze; And you would run to find me when you heard my keys. I loved, fed, bathed, played and took care of you with a soft touch; And I could read in your eyes, it said, Bonnie, thank you so much! You were truly a joy to me all these years; You lifted my spirits when I was in tears. You pushed my face up when I was sad; And still you loved me when I got mad. I knew when I got you, I'd keep and be with you until the very end; For never in my life, I've had such a friend. I can't help being this sentimental, For you were so loving, so caring, and so gentle! But now you're gone and the years will go by; I'll think of you often and just sigh. For if ever a dog so faithful, so loving and so true; I'm blessed to have had a companion like you. I'm also happy to have had this chance, That you were my faithful dog, "Sundance". I'll never forget this day we parted, This day that left me so broken-hearted. Today you died and this was the end, But I kept my promise to my best friend.
