The last days were painfull, not for you,but for me.Your life just slowly wained away, almost like you knew your time was up.Even as you grew weaker, you still had the strength to give your tail a slight wag when I asked if you wanted to go for a ride.Did you know where we were going?Did you know it was your last ride?I keep telling myself you knew.I keep telling myself you needed to go to your final destination.Thats the impression I got.How could I deny you.You were my best friend. You helped raise my kids, always with your eyes on them when they played outside.Always ready to step in when someone got too rough with your human brothers and sister. Not to hurt but too let them know enough was enough.Your patience was aways your best attribute.Who would blame you for balking at pulling Jess and her friend around in the wagon, but you always seemed ready for the task, ready to be a part of her fun.I think you just loved seeing her have fun and would pretty much do anything she wanted if it would raise a smile you seemed to crave. How many times did you chase that ball down the hall just so you could run back and jump over steve and jess as they were on each others backs and you had to jump over to get back into the family room. But you gladly gave the ball up so you could do it again, always the last to tire of the game. When they were sick you always were there to comfort them, knowing they needed the extra attention. They couldn't have asked for a better pal and neither could I.15 years were alot some tell me.More then to expect from a pet.But somehow thats all lost when I wake up in the morning still looking for you and then after a fleeting moment realizing our time here is done.I know your happy now and I hope to rejoin you sometime, someday. But until then live it up pal you deserve it.
