Oh Barney, it has taken me 3 months to be able to do this. You were the last of the original "Hammond cats" as known by many of our old friends in Virginia. You completed the circle in heaven, the 5 of you are together again. I know Otis was so happy to see you, he probably tripped over something trying to get to you. I imagine Winchester is curled up with his sisters, watching you 2 clowns doing kangaroo kicks. We all enjoyed our 2 "clown boys" so much. Barney we went thru so much together and so many changes. My son I thank you for being strong all those years you were on insulin. You were so good for Mama. You never minded at all, we had our routine & you were a good boy. We knew as the years passed that other things were happening, we could tell for a long time. I hope I did right by you my son. Daddy misses you every night at bedtime as I do Winchester. So many years together. Your new sister & brother Kiki & Jack were terribly upset when you didn't come back home. They sure did fall in love with you fast. The house was quiet and no activity. We felt so bad for them. They didn't get to enjoy you as long as your other siblings did. Remember Diamond? He was not quite like the other ferels that we feed. I know you are watching & that you know he is now an indoor kitty. He helped Kiki & Jack so you don't worry about them okay? Going to the vet was very difficult but he is inside our home... safe, fat & happy. Mama & Daddy will be with you again one day, you can count on that. We will never forget you & we will always love you son. I simply thank you for all the love & joy you brought to our lives. I will always remember when you were little & got your first taste of chicken & gravey. Remember?? You were so funny, covered in gravey while the others watched knowing you had done a "no-no". You didn't even mind the bath in the sink afterwards. Barney, you will be missed until we are together again. We will continue to speak of you every day as we do the others. As promised, we will continue to love & rescue all that we are able to. Don't forget to visit Daddy in his dreams. He will never have another Barney. Love always, Mama |
