What can I say about a handsome boy named Casey? He captured our hearts the moment we saw him crawling up his cage at the shelter when he was only 2 months old. A handsome grey Tabby, he quickly adapted to home life. Always full of energy he quickly became a part of the family. He had a big appetite and his large frame could accommodate his rapid growth. He topped out around 17 pounds and stayed that way for most of his life. He was the best companion anyone could want. He would always greet us at the door whenever we would come home and loved to sit on my lap. One of his favorite pastimes was to get on my lap then lay the right side of his head on my chest. It seemed to bring him great comfort as well as it did I. He continued that right up to two days before his passing. At about age 14 he began to lose weight and had an intense increase in thirst. The doctor diagnosed thyroid disease but gave him meds that seemed to control it. Later he continued to lose massive amounts of weight and the doctor thought he had lymphoma. We all expected him to live only a few more months at most but he surprised us all and lived for more than a year more. Right up until the end, even though he was so skinny he would purr when held or petted. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge on April 25, 2018, and is now free of any pain or sickness and enjoying health and vigor once again. Casey was the sweetest, kindest and most loyal fur baby I have ever had. He is deeply missed and there is a hole in our hearts but we have faith that one day in the future we will see our loving boy once again. ❤️ |
