EB was special in countless ways. Extraordinarily intelligent, loyal, obedient, and a great big sister and role model for Ferguson and Blu, her brothers. EB was born the morning after Greg's favorite baseball player, Ernie Banks, had passed away. Greg wanted to honor his hero, so E.B. was chosen. She lived up to it. EB loved to swim, especially taking running jumps into the lake. She'd also swim in the dog pool at the kennel she'd stay at when we lived in Illinois. When Christina first said she wanted a Labrador, she said it was because they had short hair and wouldn't shed. Everybody told her she was wrong...and boy, EB shed 12 months out of the year- but she was worth it. She became the very reason we got two more Labs!! Greg loved taking all three for walks, and they each had their own spot...EB on the left, Fergie out front, and Blu on the right. If they got out of order- and it did happen- all Greg had to say was, "Position," and they'd get back in order! They received compliments all the time! Remember when I said she was intelligent? Yep, sneaky intelligent. She'd hide bones or stuffed animals underneath her, just to frustrate Blu. In Chicago, EB developed a "dislike" for our mailman, who she could hear whistling as he came down our block. When we moved to Michigan, the dislike changed a bit. EB hated the noise at our front door i. Chicago, but in Michigan she'd get mad when the truck pulled up to our "on the street" mailbox. That developed into barking at UPS, FedEx, just about any truck. EB loved to lay on Greg's bed and watch for the trucks, or kids, or anybody walking a dog...how dare them! And squirrels? Thank God she never got hold of one. To say that EB will be missed is a vaste understatement. She gave us 10 wonderful years, and of course, it's never enough. Rest in Peace, my Sweet Girl...run pain free on the other side of the Bridge. EB has several relatives already waiting for her at the Rainbow Bridge: Belle, Paris, Kedzie, Bandit, Callie, and McMahon... At my age (73) I think I can say, "See you soon." |
