Memories of Gimpie
Gimpie- A special little black kittie that Tressa brought home from the shelter in Oct. 1993. No one knew how old Gimpie was, She was very small, with big..big eyes.. She was born with her back legs shaped in such a way that she walked like a seal. She couldn't jump, so "climbing" boxes were placed that allowed her to get up on whatever she wanted. Gimpie was not what could be considered a social cat, but she let you know when she wanted something. Especially when she wanted brushed. Her knack for sneaking out the back door and hiding under the shrubery was her way of giving her fur momie heart failure. I'd carry her around outside so she could scratch tree limbs and swat leaves like a "big cat"
She got sick very sudden, thought she was gone the first day, but she held on for 5. It took myself, Tressa, Aunt Dewey and a lot of prayers to convince Gimpie that it was OK to go, I thank God that she was in no pain, and crossed over looking out the laundry room window at the the back yard she loved so much.
We will miss her greatly. Loved by her human family Mommie Pat, sister Tressa, brother Trent, and her special Aunt Dewey.
Gimpie - The poem I started but could not finish until Mickey left us - I leave it here for you -
"Paw Prints"
Paw Prints on the linoleum..Paw Prints at the door
Scrub them all up daily..Tomorrow they'll be more
Paw prints of all sizes, Big dogs, little dogs, kitties too
Everyday, it's feed and clean..I feel like the keeper at a zoo.
But time takes away the paw prints,
One by one they disappear.
First the bigs ones, then smaller ones,
Until one day my floor is clear.
Where did all my paw prints go? How I long to have them back.
Because attached to each set of paw prints was a friend,
a companion, a fuzzy head to pat.
But I know that up in heaven, somewhere on golden floors,
are paw prints of all sizes, and daily there are more.
When I my time is over, as God hands me a mop and broom,
He will gently tell me "your pets are waiting for you"
and show me in to my new home ....... One With paw prints
in every room.

Please also visit Mickey.
