My first memory of Heidi in 2008 was that adorable neon pink nose... how bright it shown at the kitty rescue display at PetSmart! We immediately knew she was the one! We had lost our dear Molson the year prior and then adopted grey tabby Spike... he seemed lonely so we chose Heidi to be his companion. It took a while for them to warm up to each other, but when they did, they had great adventures together! Heidi and Spike were the best boat kitties on our Chesapeake and Great Lakes journeys... we travelled over 10,000 miles! Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, Hudson River, and Chesapeake Bay. Heidi was a delicate 8 pound girl... but she was fearless! Exploring every nook and cranny of our 44 foot trawler. And when the seas got rough, she and Spike hunkered down on the aft cabin bed, and never got seasick! When the weather was good and we were at the dock, she loved to watch the birds from the foredeck. HEIDI'S FAVORITE THINGS Laying in front of the fire and gazing into the flames Laying on top of the heating grate in the winter Acrobatic feather wand jumps! Wrapping around my ankles while lounging around watching TV Cuddling up on my shoulder at night Greenies tuna flavored dental treats Wrapping herself around my head on the pillow at night Enthusiastic sandpaper face licks Doing her famous "flop and roll" to invite a belly rub And... eating! Baby girl Heidi, have a wonderful time with all your new friends over the Rainbow Bridge! I will miss you forever π»πΎπ»πΎπ»πΎ |
