Memories of Jewels
Jewels was the kindest and most loving dog I ever had the privilege of having in my life. She was friends with everyone she met and loved to be in people's company. Her best friend was one of our cats, Star, who still misses her puppy friend to this day. When the other cats didn't want anything to do with Jewels, Star was there for her, snuggling and giving her kisses. Jewels came to be with us as a foster failure when she was a puppy. She fit right in with the family and was so disciplined that she only ever had a single accident in the house. She loved peanut butter and any crumbs she could find on the kitchen floor. Throughout her life, she had many setbacks, but she never let them slow her down. One of our favorite memories of her is when she decided to escape the yard, and we found her a few streets down, just wanting to visit some of our neighbors that she loved dearly. As she got older in age, she ran into a few different problems, from tumor removals to ACL tears and repairs, but she just kept on loving and moving. Unfortunately, the tumors turned out to be mast cell cancer, and it was particularly aggressive. Even though her body lost the fight, her soul never wavered, and she was happy to be surrounded by her pet parents until the end.
