My Oreo was a stray who was living in the streets. In 2008, she followed my boyfriend home and wouldn't leave. Since he had a dog at home, he couldn't take her in so he brought her to me. At the time, I already had 2 kitties and was not expecting to have more but as soon as he introduced me to Oreo, I could not put her back on the streets. Even though she was sick, had parasites, fleas, and a BB gun pellet stuck deep beneath her fur, I promised to take care of her. The vet was able to remove the pellet during her spay surgery and she tested negative for all diseases. I then officially adopted her and she was mine! I had 2 other cats which she bullied but it was understandable since she came from the streets bruised and sick. I was determined to show her that there are nice people and animals in this world so she could learn to trust again. Well, in time she got close to my eldest kitty, Pumpkin Patch and they became the best of furriends. Of course, they still played rough but I'd catch them sleeping next to each other Oreo was a very active kitty who loved to jump onto high places and play. Even in her elder years, she still acted like a kitten. She always came when you called her and she loved to give kisses, especially after a shower! She'd jump up onto the sink and kiss my hair which was dripping with water. In a way, I think she thought she was a dog! Lol I have so many fond memories of my sweet Oreo. I know she's now with Pumpkin Patch and her other fur siblings. They are now playing at the Rainbow Bridge. |
