Memories of Pepper
You were only with us a year but you stole our hearts. Why and what happened, we will never know but you know we tried everything by taking you to one of the highest regarded animal hospitals available. They could not save you. We have a memorial set up with your ashes and pics of you as a pup (long before we knew you) and pictures we had taken of you. You had such a tender heart and that is hard to replace. Being a mother for five years made you into the perfect companion because you had known such love. We will catch up with you someday and we can play on the hillside and be together once more.

07/30/19 - Pepper, you now have Bretta to play with on Rainbow Bridge. I hope she has found you and you two are enjoying your time together. We now have a memorial set up with yours and Brettas ashes and pictures of both of you. We will never know what happened to you. Vets say it was probably mammary cancer but I remember seeing you tearing at Flye's toy and I wonder if you didn't get the squeaky part and somehow it started internal bleeding. I will be better at updating your page. I have visited Bretta more frequently because she was with us longer and has made a bigger hole in our hearts. You started that hole and she just tore us up. I remember our last day at the K-State veterinarian office. You followed me to the bathroom and we talked. Once they took you back into the working area, we didn't get to see you until they told us you were bleeding so badly, they couldn't stop it. We fully felt we would take you home that night. You and Bretta have made our lives so much richer. You were the most colorful dog we have had. Just gorgeous and you took to me instantly. You always had a sadder demeanor so possibly it was cancer working on you. We had a short year with us and we will never forget you. We will have to start a memorial wall at some time but we have to move some furniture out first. Your sisters are all younger but you were only seven and what a shock to lose you. Pls stay with Bretta and enjoy the Rainbow Bridge. Love, Mom

04/09/2021 - Pepper, I took it really hard when we lost you. We took you to veterinary hospital with you walking by us. Little did we know, we would not leave with you. You were the calmest dog we had ever known. The vet thought you had mammary cancer and, if that was so, you were sold to us with your underlying problem. I thought you had eaten some wire or squeaker out toy which could not get through your body but was playing havoc with your health. I will always remember that long walk to the bathroom at vet college. I didn't want to leave you that day. Dad had to pull me away after the vets gave u your lost shot. That last look into your eyes told me I had to let you go because you were losing blood faster than they could put it in you. It was never goodbye and you and Bretta are together now and can play together until we come to pick you up and, hopefully, into Heaven's gates. Love and miss you, mom.

04/01/2022 - Pepper, we love and miss you. My life has been taken up with health problems from one thing to another. We had a short spring and horribly hot summer, then cold winter. With my lung problems which I didn't have when u were here. I'm on oxygen in winter so the time I have to get things down here was cut in half. I will never remember the fateful day we took to K-State to get you healthy and ended up losing you there. Never in our wildest dreams did we know that would happen. It was the shock of our lives. Now, we've lost Bretta in 2019 and Flye in 2022. I hope you and Bretta have found each other and are together and playing. I will get Flye up on Rainbow bridge soon. We have Wanda and Tammie still with us. If we lose them in our lifetime, we probably wont
get another dog. Nothing has given us gratification and love of a Springer Spaniel. I will try to get better about updating our joy of having you in our lives. Love, mom

01/13/2023 - Hi, my sweet Pepper. What joy we had with you for the short time we had you. I still remember clearly you walking beside me into the Kansas State Vet Clinic. You walked with me on the long trip to the bathroom there and we made our way back. A vet took you there and they wanted to keep you to work on you which was hard to take as their was a dog that was crying as we sat in the waiting room. So, we came home and they called that if we wanted to see you, we had better head back to the clinic. They told us you were bleeding from different areas and your health signs were deteriorating so we went to the funeral area and got to say goodbye before they put you to sleep. It was very peaceful and we didn't want you to suffer but it was so hard to take. We were not going to bring you home. You have been at Rainbow Bridge since 2015, eight years and I still grieve for you. I'm so sorry your story didn't end with you being healthy but we took you to the vet as soon as we realized that you were not well. It all happened to fast and that makes it hard to accept. I will never forget you and we have your pictures on a table along with Bretta's pictures. Both of your ashes are together in a box. I have been sick for quite a while and haven't gotten Flye's residency started but I will get that done before long. The three of you are hopefully running around in the fields near Rainbow Bridge and playing to your hearts content. Love, mom.
