Memories of Olivia, Mikiko, Taki-Sun, Smudge, Lisa & Peoples
We met Mikiko (Kiko) when she was only 10 days old and knew she would be ours. Such a sweet, loving furbaby who snuggled in my arms all the way from Memphis, TN, to Birmingham, AL, when she was three months old! Peoples (The Peoples Choice) came to us a little later--full of energy and ready for anything! Although they were very different in personality they were destined to be Best Friends. Taki-Sun, Olivia, Smudge and Lisa Marie joined us soon afterward bringing our total Chin population to six--all black & whites! The girls were "stair-steps" in age. Peoples went to the Bridge on December 7, 2000. Kiko followed on March 1, 2001. April 10, 2002, was a terrible day at The Tea House because our beautiful Olivia and sweet little Smudge died within hours of each other. Six months later, October 10, 2002, Lisa Marie joined the others. These girls died at either age 10 or 13. Our family, especially Taki-Sun, went into a deep depression and the search was on to find a Chin baby. In November 2002, Foxy Lady, a red & white Chin, joined our family and Taki stopped crying. In August 2003 Sachi, a sable & white Chin, came to live with us. Taki-Sun, our longevity queen, went to the Bridge August 31, 2005. Had she lived until her birthday, November 5, she would have been 16. Our six, beautiful, black and white Chin ladies brought love and joy into our lives and we considered every day they were with us as a gift. Their pawprints are truly on our hearts forever. Catarina Kit, a Long Haired Tuxedo cat, was rescued by the Chin girls when she was about 7-8 weeks old. Catarina always thought she was a rare breed--a Japanese Chin Cat--and on October 20, 2008, eleven-year old Catarina went to join her friends at the Bridge. Cleocatra, a Short Haired Tuxedo Cat, was personally trained on how to live with Japanese Chin by Catarina Kit. Ginger Chin Hooks, the newest member of our pack and is the youngest of the Chin. Ginger was rescued March 17, 2011 by JCCARE and promptly adopted! She loves her Chin sisters, Foxy and Sachi, as well as her Cat sister, CleoCatra! We are devastated by the loss of Sachi Chin Hooks, April 3, 2013. It is painful for all of us, especially Foxy--she and Sachi were inseparable. Pawprints will forever be in our home and our hearts!
