Welcome to Slater(Odie)McFarland's Rainbow Bridge Memorial Residency
Memories of Slater(Odie)McFarland
I heard you before I saw you...I went to the Cat Pratice asking if they had kittens for Valentine's Day and they said no, but wait, we do have Oliver; I said what's an Oliver? Then I heard that strange little meow: hurrmph, hurrmph, hurrmph! I turned around and saw a little black bundle of fur that looked like a little bear, I brought you home and re-named you Slater, after Christian Slater. For 17 years you chased lizards, frogs, and anything else you could find...you were the true hunter! You always knew when I was sad or depressed and laid with me and let me hold your paw until I felt better. Tuesdays were National Odie day and I gave you so many nicknames and made you dance to so many songs! You were the most patient, easygoing cat I have ever had! you adopted Saki and Gabi like they were your own. And when Little Winnie came along, you found your new best friend! You have been a part of my life for so long, it feels like I lost my little boy, my little man! That's what you were to me Slater, my baby boy! Now, you are free, free to run at the Rainbow Bridge and be with Grandma, Mina, and Lucki and to catch all the lizards you want! I love you and you will always be my baby boy! 2/4/2012 Today Grandpaw went to pick up your cage and your collar and I feel like you can sleep with me again! I cried for an hour and put your collar on your pillow, now you can sleep with Mommy again. It has been a week since I brought you to the vet and this house feels so empty! I miss you Slater and nothing is the same without you! Mommy loves you very much!
2/6/2012 Today is a week since I lost you Slater...my heart has not yet begun to heal and Little Winnie walks around meowing looking for you. I tried my best to explain to her and Gabi and Saki that you are at the Rainbow Bridge and you are happy and chasing lizards everyday! I miss my baby boy and I love you more than words can say! Lighting your first candle tonight!
2/9/2012 Today you came home! The lady from Agee's brought you back in your cherry wood box and it had your engraving on it and I put you right between your big sister Mina and your little sister Lucki. This is an especially sad day for Mommy but also a happy one cause you are finally home! My heart is still broken and I still call out your name to come snuggle with me, but I have to realize you are happy now and are young again and free. You are with Grandma, and Mina and Lucki and chasing all your lizards! Mommy loves you Slater!
2/14/2012 Today is Valentine's Day, a very special day for this is the day I brought you home from the Cat Pratice 17 1/2 years ago! I love you and today of all days,National Odie day, my heart is still heavy with grief. I miss you and wish you were here with me but I know one day we will meet again. Take care of Grandma, Be-Be, Baby Mina and Lucki. Mommy loves you!
