Memories of Sweetie Pea
It's taken me all these years to be able to talk about you. The grief runs so deep, and I guess I keep hoping I'll see you frolicking in the living room when I turn around. You were so sick. I tried desperately to keep you with me. You saw Dr. Rogers. You had an anti-cancer drug. The vicious disease overwhelmed your poor little body. It was hard for you to breathe. You were on an inhaler. I wrote every day in your little diary what you got and what time it was administered. After we found the cancer in your lymph nodes, I made sure you were going to sleep; peacefully, in my arms. The memories bite. Nillie and Toffie left around that time. Dr. Rogers left. Everyone gone. You're safe now. You're frolicking in heaven. It's Summer. You're there with Angel Blue, Toffie, Nillie, and Cherub. My precious Cherub; my precious babies all. Pammie and Tabbie. Kandi Sue. You stand watch. You are all here.
