Memories of Tyler
On Friday, November 5, 2021, we made the difficult decision to say goodbye to our "little man". Tyler was found as a puppy in Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. We wanted to rescue an adult dog and searched petfinder.com for a dog that was a least 1 year old. Tyler was half dachshund, half miniature poodle and once we saw his little face, we knew he was meant to be ours. He was being fostered at a rescue in Alabama who told us he came to them with a broken leg and that he'd been shot with a BB gun. He was transported to us and became part of our family in July 2006, just after he turned 1. We took care of all his medical issues, and he became the cutest little love bug. His favorite things were snuggling, belly rubs, playing with his ball or stuffed lamb, walks and sunning himself on the deck. He was definitely spoiled, and he pretty much came with us everywhere we could take him. Any animal lover knows that this is the hardest decision to make, and we are truly heartbroken. The grief we feel is palpable and like many others, wonder if we made the right decision. But we had been seeing him decline steadily, especially the last couple of weeks. You will always be in our hearts Tyler. We will miss your snuggles and little kisses on our nose. Give your brother, Perry, kisses for us and tell him we miss him lots. (Perry passed unexpectedly Nov 25, 2020, and we still miss him so much.) The house is so quiet, and we are so sad. We look for you on the couch or in your bed. We miss your smell and the excitement you showed when we came home. We love you our little man. It's not goodbye, it's see you later.

Nov 16 2021: 11 days since you left us. We miss you so much.

Nov 9 2022: It's been one year. Our sweet little man... our home will never be the same without you and your brother. Our hearts still ache, and the tears still flow. Thinking of you always.

Nov 20 2023: Hello to our little man, Tyler - 2 years later and Dad and I still miss you like crazy! I still start to tear up when talking about you and your brother. I wish you were here - you are so loved and missed. Sending you big hugs to you and Perry. Love you so much.

Nov 24 2024: Hello sweet boy! It is so hard to believe that it has been 3 years since we said goodbye. Dad and I talk about you all the time. We have you photos of you and Perry all over the house. Your favorite ball and lamb stuffy is proudly on display along with your ashes. I am crying writing this even 3 years later. Dad and I decided not to get another dog since you and Perry left us. Your losses hit us so hard. So I started pet sitting other dogs in the neighborhood because I miss having a dog in the house - I hope you approve. But you and Perry can never be replaced. You are always in our heart and our thoughts. Love you little man.
