My husband found Spirit in 1988 she was a puppy wondering the Henry Horner projects in Chicago he called me and asked me if he could bring her home he said she wasn't much to look at and he was right, she had no fur and had bad mange and we had to keep her in our basement for 3 months every time we touched her we had to wear gloves. She became the best friend and partner we ever had she was there with us through thick and thin she even helped pick the property where we were to build. We would take her with us and if she didn't like the land she would get back in the truck. She was like a little person she understood everything we would tell her. When I worked in my flower garden she would walk around it like she was inspecing my work and when she was satisfied she would lay down.
When dinner was ready I would tell her to go get father and she would bark at him until he came. She just had a bad accident she fell off our porch she lived but had no back legs. That was 2 days ago I left her this morning to go to work we had to and she was gone when we came back. Spirit will never be forgotten she will be in our thoughts and our hearts everyday for the rest of our lives. We will miss her dearly.
