Tasha
by Kim
Tasha I got you as a puppy, Actually you came as two, I got you and your sister, I love you two even when you went poo, mom and dad didn't like that much, Because you went on the basement floor, They had to clean it up, You two had poo galore. We named you Tasha and your sister's name was Roxie, The two of you shared wonderful times, Even when you two were very naughty. But your sister was too hyper, we couldn't keep her long, We sold her to a nice lady, But doing that to you was wrong. You greeved for days and weeks to come, Because you were once two but now are one, We didn't like to see you glum. As the days went by you came around, You went to play with a small young girl, The two of you had lots of fun, around the finger you were bound. You made memories as golden as the sun, Some bad some good, But all were mainly fun. Then one day you grew old, too old to run and play. The girl is now teenage, with homework everyday. You two drifted apart, because you saw only bits of eachother, And now the dog is old and cannot play, the girl is much too busy, and then one day the dog fell weak, her hearing hard and eyesight bleak, the veterinarian the girl did seek, she said what can I do for a dog in pain, the vet said not much for she is too old, the life of your dog has been told. You must send her to a better place, say goodbye and as she did her heart did race. The girl took hold of her dog, looked into her eyes and said where did I go wrong, If both of us would have played and stayed close, you never would have ended up this way, You will always have a place in my heart, For if your there we will never part. The girl began to cry as she watched her dog close her eyes. The dog fell silently into an endless sleep, from her body her soul did creep. It left to go to Rainbow Bridge, a place where dogs go to live, After they finished their long journey on earth. Tasha was taken from my house, As I watched the vet take her away, The place in my heart fell empty that day. I will not rest until I find, the dog that left me behind. I will not smile until the day comes, that I find a dog as nice as Tasha. This dog will never be fogotten, This new dog will be here to stay, I will not make the same mistake, that I made one hot summer day.
