Little Princess

Little Princess
She came to me just by chance
a little girl who touched my heart
I named her aptly Little Princess
quite the beauty, always preening look at me
I quickly learned she suffered abuse
how someone could do this still amazes me
I asked god how some one could do this to her
and knew that was why he brought her to me
It took a few months to get her to purr
but with lots of love she soon trusted me
She tickled my heart with her bitchy ways
and softened my soul when she let her love show
Each day home from work she was waiting at the door
her big eyes waiting for mommy to say hi
No matter my mood I couldn't help but smile
my baby was waiting for me looking for loving
She would strut and preen and do as she please
swat at Batmite just cause she was the queen
but each morning as I got ready she sat at my feet
wanting attention so demanding yet sweet
One day her habits seemed to change
Something was wrong, my heart started to bleed
The vet told me the unthinkable
that there were only weeks left for her to be with me
To watch my baby die
is something I'll never get over
to have to make the decision it's time for her to go
will haunt me forever
No one to greet me now
my heart is in tatters
I miss her so much
it just seems like nothing matters
I know it will get easier as time goes by
but now my heart is totally shattered
I just pray she's at peace, no longer in pain
I love her so much I hope she knows how much she mattered
