If I could be a litle pet
That did not have an owner yet,
I'd prepare myself to wait and see
The master God would send to me.
I'd want someone nice and warm
To give me shelter from the storm.
But more than this, I must confess,
I would desire happiness.
I'd give love and loyalty
To someone who wanted me.
I'd do my best every day
To make him want to let me stay.
Each night I would sit and wait
For him to come, no matter how late.
And when he comes in the door
My life would resume once more.
It would not matter, not at all,
If his home were large or small.
A mansion grande, or cottage bare,
Matters not, if love is there.
