"BOOTS COMES HOME!!!"
by GINNY Brancato
BOOTS COMES HOME!!! Last month Larry and I came across a flyer with a picture of "Boots" a domestic short-haired cat who was LOST "BOOTS" looked very much like a cat that had been visiting the back porch and patio, so we thought, "Hey, you never know and called the # listed. I spoke with Boots' owner Ann, who had just moved in the neighborhood. To our disapointment we decided my visitor could not be BOOTS . Ann told me she had not slept in 2 weeks since BOOTS ran off . She had just taken BOOTS to his new home. He had never before been there and his previous home was more than 30 miles away. If BOOTS was headed back to his old home he would have to cross the Hudson River, which meant going over the Newburgh Beacon Bridge. Ann told me she had put the fliers up everywhere, in local nearby stores and had put ads in local newspapers. She scoured her new neighborhood roads and talked with everyone that lived on her street. (What a way to meet your neighbors!) It had been two weeks and still NO BOOTS. I gave Ann my phone # and after hanging up I was in tears myself. I thought of BOOTS during the days after, especially when my tiger striped visitor showed up. Three weeks later Ann called. She was elated!! BOOTS was home! Five weeks had passed! She had been going out and noticed "something" huddled in the bushes. Her first thought was "Could it be and sure enough it was her BOOTS." He was so dirty she had to bathe him 5 times and was he hungry! The sun was shining again, for both Ann and her BOOTS! Ann has no idea where Boots was but she is overjoyed her best friend is once again with her. This story has a happy ending. So many of the stories we read at Rainbowsbridge, unfortunately, are not happy ones. I would like to leave you with a few thoughts. This story could happen to any pet owner. Hopefully we might be able to prevent it learning from Ann's mistakes. Please, please, always keep an ID tag on your pet...and remember after the storm, always comes the sunshine. Welcome to the Other Side Of RAINBOWSBRIDGE NEW BEGININGS. Blessings, Ginny
