XMAS ODE TO FiFi
by Ginny Brancato
XMAS ODE TO FiFi. I look outside and see bare trees. The leaves gone, like you. The air has an impending scent of snow and my heart is still frozen with grief. Xmas decorations adorn the Malls and newspapers shout their sales in bold print. My gift is gone... I think of the brown tattered box in the attic that holds our memories past and am overcome with both tears and laughter. The silly red jingle bell bow you wore every year, with your red velvet Xmas hat are tucked lovingly inside, never to be worn again. I will hang your Xmas ornament on the tippity-top tree branch, that holds a shiny holiday star and remember, It was your sweet and gentle way, that shined, by far. Memories of you and me. The sound of your little motorboat purr, the touch of your paw against my face. Silly little things, no other furbaby could ever replace. I look outside the window and see bare branches, waiting, to bud once more. Snow will come and cover them, then melt away. And you and I my FiFi, will meet again one day.... http://members.aol.com/fificat/index/html Ginny Brancato (Fificat)
