Mr. Cassidy
by Jill Connor, Ph.D.
This morning, I found Mr. Cassidy dead. A friend acquired him from his breeder, who thought him a "monster" because his legs were splayed. He always sat with one leg sticking out but it created quite a touching sight. He latched onto my Crackerjack, and he and she produced many healthy and beautiful babies together. He was a wonderful daddy and devoted to Jackie in every way, following her everywhere. Although not "tame", Mr. Cassidy learned to trust me and would come to my shoulder, following Jackie, and give me tentative "kisses." Jackie is lost without him, although I know this will pass. He lived his life here with love and the best of everything, and I know that his spirit has gone back to El Shadddai, the giver of all of creation. I love you, Mr. Cassidy, and I mourn your loss.
