It was January 17,2001 and it was Quartz's 5th birthday!! I had a cake for him, party hats, treats, and a card from his mommy(me)!! I had that party, because 5 is a special age for a doggy!! I threw the party not knowing that 13 days later, he would be killed. On January 30, 2001 my sister and I got ready for school, I pet him on the head and left. When my mom picked me up that day she had told me that Quartz and Rudy had gotten out of the house and dad could only catch Rudy. We looked for him all day that day and never found him!! I looked everyday for a week with no luck!! After looking I had hoped he had been taken in by a family and given a good home! About 3 days after I had figured he was taken in, a lady came to my door and told me she had seen my missing dog poster in the nearby store and she informed me that she had seen a Golden colored dog in the ditch about 2 miles from my house. My mom didn't think it would be a good idea for me to go see, but if I didn't I would never know!! So we got in the car, and drove over there. I had to walk a little bit down a sidewalk and sure enough there he lay in a ditch covered in mud and water!! I feel to the ground and balled my eyes out!! He was the best friend I ever had!! My dad went back later that night to get me his collar!! I still celebrate his birthdays by taking a rose to where he was hit!! I will never forget him, and I will love him for as long as I live. I know that we will be together again in Rainbow Bridge!!
