I still remember the day we met.
It was cold and she was muddy and wet.
Her big brown eyes looked into mine
And I knew right away that I had a find.
I sat down beside her and gave her a pat,
And she kissed my face as she jumped in my lap.
What a cute little fur ball to have and to hold,
I knew I would keep her until she grew old.
Her love for me never wavered, she was loyal to the end,
Finally, I knew what they meant by “Man’s best friend.”
Some will say she was just a dog,
But to me she was a friend, one who knew all.
And as I looked in those eyes for the very last time,
I knew no greater companion would I ever find.
I still remember the day we met,
That cold, wet day when she chose me to be her pet.
